When renting a hotel that needs a credit card will they accept my visa debit?

So I am 17 and looking at renting a hotel -- which requires a credit card ($500) or $2000 security bond. I was wondering if I have a visa debit card will they accept that as a credit card?|||well you have two problem most hotels will not accpect 17 years old in first place

2nd if they did accpect the debit they would put a hold of up 500 dollar on the card

then you will not be able use for anything else -it wiould then be declined.

so that would embassing if you tried to buy dinner somewhere|||Many hotels will accept debit cards, however, know that they put a large deposit on hold on the account and while they do not charge it, that money is set aside and can be in hold for as long as a week before it is released to spend. So, you'd have to have plenty of cash in that account. Call the hotel, ask them their policy and how much of a deposit is made.|||That really depends on the hotel. Most require you to have a major credit card for the reservation/for their files for liability reasons. However you can pay @ checkout with cash or bank card pending they have your credit card in file. Just call and ask is the easiest way.|||Most British hotels accept debit cards. But you need a credit card to rent a hotel room when you are overseas.|||Yes but you need to have someone with you over 18 or preferably 21. That will be your biggest obstacle.
