What are the visual differences between a credit card and a debit card?

I'm starting to work at a restaurant and when people just hand you a card, how can you tell if its a debit card or credit card without asking and looking dumb. There are sooooo many different issuers of both credit and debit cards, which makes things confusing for ruling things out!

I wish companies could just make it easy and print: DEBIT or CREDIT on the front!!!|||I'm pretty sure debit cards have either check card or debit card on them even if they are backed by Visa or MasterCard,

My BoA card has both,

When you're running it just run it as a Credit card,|||Well Debit cards DO say Debit on the front

but you can't run a sale as debit unless the person is at the register with you

you'll probably just be running it as credit because it would be kinda silly to make the customer come and punch in his or her pin|||The card should be marked DEBIT but if it has a mastercard or visa mark on it , it can be used for credit or debit. If you see a card marked debit you should ask your customer if they want credit or debit.|||A debit card will say it on the front. A regular credit card (Citi, Chase etc...) won't say that. Debit cards are normally either prepaid that you can buy from CVS, Rite Aid, Wal-Mart etc...or are issued by your bank.
