How do I make a DEBIT CARD at 19 ?

So I asked my mom if I could make a debit card, but she said that she would have to go with me to sign some papers at the bank.





Do I really need a parent with me in order to make a debit card at 19 years old?





I don't have any credit. Can I get a debit card by myself?





Thank you so much!|||yes you can. however it requires that you create a savings account and a checking account with the bank of your choice. most people may find the the level of paper cumbersome. so having a parent who is familiar with the banks system could be beneficial. but if you do want to go it alone be sure you read everything that is given to you carefully and be informed on hidden charges that can be applied for overdrafts, etc

You have to be at least 16 to do it yourself and of course min 25 to put in your account. Do it yourself and get your own freedom unless your mom is thinking you want a debit card on her bank account?

You can also buy gift cards that act as credit/debit cards, the last $25 one I bought at a local retailer cost an additional 16% service charge.
